(Apologies for the delay in notification, I’ve only just joined the OM website.)
It is with great sadness that I let you know of the death of my good friend Mike Day. Mike collapsed and died very suddenly on 22nd April 2017 at his home near Bath.
Some of you will remember that he played for the 1st XI cricket team during his time at MGS – one of that unusual breed who bowl left handed but bat right handed. Following his time at the school, he spent a year working in the Maidstone area before university, as he was a year younger than his peers, a testament to his quick and clever brain and maturity. He gained his degree from Bath before embarking on various careers including teaching, software and sales and marketing. Mike also set up and ran his own successful company, specialising in education software. We remained good friends after school and I will be forever grateful of the help, support and advice he gave me at a very low point in my life.
He leaves a wife (who he met while at Bath) and two fine boys.
